MARYBOROUGH HOUSE HOTEL

PJ Hegarty constructed a modern luxury hotel to incorporate the existing Maryborough House — one of Cork’s most iconic estate mansions, built in the 18th century. Despite the modern conversion to a hotel, Maryborough House has retained many of its classically influenced original features to both the exterior and interior. The four-star hotel was the AA Hotel of the Year for 2014-15.

PJ Hegarty paid special attention to maintaining the classical elegance of the existing estate mansion and grounds, while enhancing the experience through modern amenities. The new hotel complex included bedroom accommodation, an extensive number of bars, conference and function rooms, lounges and a fine dining restaurant. The Maryborough also boasts a luxury swimming pool and leisure facilities. The hotel was finished internally to an extremely high standard, including extensive joinery and 5,100m² of various floor finishes.
