Hornsea 3 – HVDC Converter Stations

This groundworks package for the Hornsea 3 HVDC Converter Stations brought the delivery of the world’s largest offshore wind farm. Our work began with large-scale bulk earthworks, followed by the installation of deep foundation systems including piling and vibro stone columns to ensure long-term ground stability.

Location : Norfolk coast
Value : £26 million
Client : Hitachi Energy UK Limited

We then progressed to constructing reinforced concrete structures incorporating over 72,000m² of reinforcement and more than 15,000m³ of structural concrete, laying the foundation for critical energy infrastructure.

A significant element of the project was the installation of over 30km of below-ground services, including drainage, earthing, and ducting networks, all designed and delivered with precision to meet exacting performance standards. Alongside these systems, we also constructed permanent perimeter fencing, roads, and footpaths to provide full access and security across the site.
