THE PEACH HOUSE, ÁRAS AN UACHTARÁIN
The Office of Public Works commissioned PJ Hegarty to restore a range of glass houses at Áras an Uachtaráin known as The Peach House. The decorative wrought iron structures were built in 1835 by renowned 19th century architect Richard Turner, who also designed the iconic glass houses in Dublin’s Botanic Gardens, Belfast’s Botanic Gardens and Kew Gardens in London. By the mid-2000s The Peach house had fallen into complete disrepair, and iron elements had decayed.
