Building Responsibly: Smarter Water Management for the Future

International days such as World Water Day make us stop and consider our impact on the environment and its natural resources. All organisations will leave their mark; our aim is to be accountable, measuring any impacts we may have and reducing them over time.

With water scarcity becoming an increasing global challenge, industries must play their part in responsible water management. At PJ Hegarty, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact and improving water efficiency across our projects. As part of our 2030 ESG roadmap, our aim is to reduce potable water usage intensity by 50% by 2030. We’re improving water efficiency through more innovative management and sustainable construction.

CHINESE DELEGATION RECEIVED IN OUR LONDON OFFICE

Our London Office team were proud to receive a delegation from the Shanghai Municipal Civil Defence Office recently. The delegation were making their second stop on a 5 day tour of Europe.

Following a short presentation of the history and accomplishments of P.J. Hegarty & Sons, the delegation were invited to ask questions and compared notes on how the construction and civil engineering industries differ between the two nations.

Most of the interest focused around Building regulation enforcement between the two cultures and it transpires, there is a lot more government involvement in China than the UK. Both in terms of issuing permits at various stages of a project and in terms of direct government agency inspections and final sign off.

The delegation presented us with a souvenir ceramic tile depicting the Shanghai skyline, which is proudly displayed in the London office conference room.

We look forward to further interaction in the future.
