Following a successful ITT stage, we were appointed to construct a substantial batching plant platform, a dedicated manufacturing yard, and an expansive storage area—laying the groundwork for HS2’s long-term delivery.

PHIBBLESTOWN SCHOOLS

PJ Hegarty was contracted for the design and build of a new campus comprising two schools and a community facility in Phibblestown, Dublin 15, with work commencing in March 2009 and completed in August 2010. The largest building is a 1,000-pupil post-primary school comprising 27 classrooms, 38 specialist classrooms, PE facilities, and a special needs unit with ancillary accommodation, totalling 11,278m² over three floors. A separate three-story primary school contains 24 classrooms, a special needs unit and ancillary accommodation, with a total floorplan of 4,306m², with an additional 2,500m² community facility onsite.

The Glucksman Art Gallery and Restaurant Building is a multi-award-winning project close to the banks of the River Lee that forms part of the Main Campus at the Lower Grounds of UCC.

PJ Hegarty was awarded the contract in 2003 for the construction of a new Tourism and Catering Studies Building at Cork Institute of Technology, which was commissioned to provide much-needed state-of-the-art facilities to service the huge demand for trained personnel in the thriving tourism and hospitality sector in Cork and Kerry. The design was a part-single storey, part-two storey brick-clad building with functional and decorative brick chimneys.

Indaver Rivenhall involved enabling works and a full site infrastructure package for the Facility, which supports the development of a 595,000-tonne waste-to-energy plant. The scope of the project included extensive earthworks, including the construction of reinforced embankments and retaining walls to ensure the stability of the site, the construction of a 35,000m³ lagoon and the installation of a comprehensive underground drainage and services network

Hornsea 3 – HVDC Converter Stations

This groundworks package for the Hornsea 3 HVDC Converter Stations brought the delivery of the world’s largest offshore wind farm. Our work began with large-scale bulk earthworks, followed by the installation of deep foundation systems including piling and vibro stone columns to ensure long-term ground stability.

MSD Manufacturing Facility and Logistics Building

This project for MSD Animal Health involved the delivery of key civil works for a new Paracox Vaccine Manufacturing Facility and Logistics Building within a live and operational factory environment.The complex works included extensive groundworks, high-specification concrete structures, and precision finishing to support MSD’s critical manufacturing processes. We undertook 10,000m³ of cut and fill operations, alongside 5,000m³ of soil stabilisation to prepare the site for construction.

Construction followed demolition of a previous office development, and the new building includes a double basement car park, a green roof, an atrium, an ESB substation and an internal landscaped courtyard.
